It’s a BOY!!!
We had our 20-week ultrasound this morning at 7:30. It was so good to see our precious little BOY and to see how much he’s grown since the last ultrasound at 9 weeks. I can’t get over how amazing these ultrasounds are! Our little guy was upside-down with his head “way low.” The ultrasound tech had to ask me to scoot my pants even lower to get a good look at his head. We were able to see our son’s brain, kidneys, spleen, heart (even the separate chambers!) and spine, not to mention his “boy parts.” We also took a peek at his bladder, which was full to begin with, then empty, then full again before the end of the scan. The ultrasound tech showed us his hands and feet and the bones in his arms and legs. He had his legs all stretched out and crossed at the ankles; it was so cute! While she was showing us his cute little face, we caught him yawning! The ultrasound tech said he measured about 13 ounces and 21-weeks, which would push our due date up to February 11, but she didn’t change our due date, so it still remains February 18. She also measured the baby’s heartbeat (141 bpm) and blood flow in a few arteries and the umbilical cord. As far as I could tell, everything looked great and the baby is healthy. But, of course, ultrasound techs are not allowed to tell you one way or the other. My doctor will go over the results with me at my next appointment on Monday.
It seemed like the ultrasound tech was done with the scan, so I had to ask her if she could tell us the sex of the baby. She replied, “I can look.” Yes, please! I’m so glad I asked! I was almost certain we were having a girl, and as I mentioned in my previous post, my niece and nephew thought the baby was a girl, my sister-in-law and mom were also feeling more like the baby was a girl. My dear husband was the only one thinking boy and he was right! We are both so happy and excited to be having a healthy little boy! I can’t wait to start shopping/registering for cute little boy things…

Congratulations!! I had the opposite happen with my baby. Myself, my mom, and my mother in law were all convinced that I was going to have a boy. It just “felt” that way. But lo and behold, the ultrasound (and subsequent labor & delivery) revealed a little girl! Hehe… so funny how our feelings can deceive us. Congrats again. Looking forward to hearing about your little man’s arrival.
Bless be! A most sincere congratulations to you and yours!!
hooRAY!!!!
Happy Feast of St. Terese of Lisieux!!! I hope you get roses today!

Hi.. I was just passing by, but didn’t wanted to leave without droppin you a message!
Congratulations with your baby boy! Boys are awesome!
@Jeffnaman - Thank you! Especially for the prayers!
@Novietaaa - Thanks!
Congratulations! I am so glad to hear that everything is continuing to go so well.
I can’t understand how people say it is a choice rather than a miracle! How can you look into the individual chambers of the heart and say there is no God and this is just natural selection! Oh what a blessing you carry! I had one son and he is now 30. It was interesting for a while (like when we came to the conclusion that he really would live to see his 18th birthday but we were not sure we would survive to enjoy the years afterwords LOL) They are more than worth the investment God asks to raise a leader in His work.
Blessings on your family!
@Driving_blindfolded - Thanks!
@choosenservant - I know exactly what you mean…I don’t understand that either. Every life truly is a miracle! Blessings on your family, too!
Oh yay! A boy! Congratulations! I’m so glad you got to find out. I hope that your appointment on Monday went well.
A boy!! Oh, yay! So I totally wanted a girl my first time around, but I am so glad now that my first is a boy. I never had an older brother and I think its great that Carlie has that now. SO, Congratulations! I am so happy for you! I hope you are having fun registering for all the boy things. I am glad everything seems like it is great. Still praying for a healthy baby for you!
@leannenannette - Thanks! Yes, my appointment did go well!
@chosenandblessed - Yes, my husband wanted a boy first for that same reason. He and my sister were the only ones who thought we were having a boy…the rest of us were wrong!
Thank you for your prayers!
Hey Brenda, it’s been a while. I’m sooo happy for you! Congratulations!
@geniusbarb - Yes, it has been a LONG while! Thanks! I see that you posted something, too, so I’m off to check it out!
Thank you! I took a picture every week of my pregnancy so I could look back at just how big I got! lol
Amy slept loads better last night thanks, I was in bed ’til mid-afternoon today and I feel so much better for all the sleep. It makes everything so much easier to deal with.
I hope everything is going well for you and your family? x
@shayandbump - I’ve been trying to take a picture each week, too, but I’ve missed a few. It is fun to look back and see how much your body changes throughout the pregnancy.
I’m glad you were able to get some sleep! Everything is going well for us. I visited my parents this weekend, which was nice and relaxing.
@sweetmumbleb - I missed a few too, as long as you’ve got most of them you can piece in the gaps (10wks, 20wks, 30wks & 40wks are the best for seeing how much you’ve grown).
I’m glad to hear everything is going well and you had a nice time visiting your Parents
RYC: Our trip to town went well, it turns out I was worrying about nothing. Amy screamed for a while but once she was changed and fed she spent the rest of the time asleep or watching everything going on outside her pram.
@shayandbump - Unfortunately 20wks is one of the weeks we missed! but, we did get pics of weeks 19 and 22, so I think we’ll be ok.
Glad to hear your trip to town went well! I knew it would!
Thank you, the appointment went really well & I started my meds this morning
Thanks so much
@shayandbump - You’re welcome so much.
